Scratched my rims badly on a curb, can they be fixed or do I need new ones?
I'm so annoyed at myself right now and I'm hoping someone can tell me if there's any hope before I start crying over my poor car. Last night I was trying to park in a tight spot near a restaurant in JBR and I totally misjudged the distance, scraped my front right rim against the concrete curb and it made the most awful sound. I got out to check and honestly my heart sank, there's a pretty deep scratch going around almost half of the rim and some of the metal looks like it's actually scraped off, not just a surface mark. The car is a 2018 Mercedes C Class that I've kept in perfect condition since I bought it, so seeing this damage is really upsetting. I went to a tyre shop this morning and the guy said he can't help me because he only does tyres not rims, then I called a body shop and they quoted me 1500 dirhams to fix one rim which seems really high. A colleague at work told me that rim repairs are actually common here in Dubai because of all the speed bumps and curb parking, and he said I should check out https://800sayara.com/rims-repair-dubai/ to get an idea of what services are available and what prices are reasonable. But before I call around more I wanted to ask people here who might have been through this before. Can deep curb scratches actually be repaired to look like new again or will I always be able to see the damage? And if repair is possible, what's a fair price for fixing one 18 inch alloy rim here in Dubai? I don't want to pay 1500 if I can get it done properly for 500 somewhere else. Also, does anyone know a good shop that does quality rim repair without leaving the surface uneven or the paint color mismatched? I'm in Barsha but willing to drive anywhere for good work. Really appreciate any advice you guys can share because I'm pretty upset about this. Thanks so much.
